Contract forms

Analysis of a movie trailer for influence.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0ueTIcUU24

There are various elements which I really want to explore with as I feel that the starting sequence of my movie trailer could incorporate the use of random shots which don't have an explanation behind which gives the illusion that the dream sequences are random however, the footage that is showed will give a nostalgia element to the audience as it will remind them of movies in the the genre which are classed as classics. By using this technique, it will ensure and hopefully cause the movie trailer to have a unease feeling towards it as I want my target audience to be on the edge of their seat.
I am hoping to create a paranoiac atmosphere within the movie trailer as it portrays the characters battle with themselves. This movie is a prime example of how successful creating a claustrophobic environment can be.
The shot composition creates a ceramic environment which gives the illusion that the characters are apart of another world as they perceive reality different as they are impacted by the various problems.

Script

Alex Jones
(Slow, Anxious) I've been having...these dreams.
For the past week I've had these nightmares where... I'm in the woods, and there's somebody there with me.

Doctor
 (Concerned) And then?

News Reporter
A murder has taken place in Grove Park last night, the victim has yet to be identified

Alex
It's the same. It's exactly the same as my dream.
What the hell is going on here

John Doe
Detective John Doe, I've been assigned to this case.
The victim was killed at approximately midnight last night, they suffered exactly 28 stab wounds across their chest and stomach. This isn't your average murder; the killer was enjoying themselves. And they're still out there.

Look we've come too far to quit now. I've got enough to clues know where to find him. Tonight. Before he kills again.
...He's here.
Teacher
 (Angry) Alex. Wake up!

Alex
 (Angry) What?

Teacher
Alex. You shouldn't be sleeping in my lesson.

Alex

(Angry)I was so close at catching him.

Emma
(Worried) Alex I'm worried about you. You're...changing.

Alex
(Monotone) I have to figure out what this all means. I have to. I'm being tormented by these  murders, I need to find out who killed them.

Emma
Don't you get it, this is all in your dreams. You are not John Doe!

Alex
 Yes, I am.

Adam
I don't even know who you are anymore, man

Sam Spade
So... what now?

 (Button)

Murderer: I've been waiting for you.

Costume consideration and makeup

Alex Jones- White shirt, black jacket, and black trainers. This is because he is an angsty teenager who is a recluse, this plays on the buckingham's theory of young citizens within society, by having a negative look/ stereotype of the age group within society. This is reinforced in my production through the dark, plain clothes.

John Doe- a navy blue trench coat, black hat, white shirt, black tie, black trousers and black shoes as he is portraying a 1920's detective in a film noir setting, the detective must look the part as he is being portrayed as respectful and confident.

Emma Martin- She wears neutral, quaint clothing – green coat, grey top, red scarf, blue skinny jeans, white trainers. She also wears a cross necklace and all times and wears light, bright makeup. This is the clothing in which she wears as this symbolises that she is depicted as a virgin/ pure

Tracy Mills- She wears dark, tight, revealing clothing- a black crop top, leather jacket, fishnets, knee high socks and heels. She is always wearing dark and heavy makeup. She is depicted as a prostitute as she is the binary opposite of her opposing self.

Adam Black- he wears black jeans, white shoes, glasses. This suggests he is also typical teenager who enjoys the colour black which also reinforces Buckingham's theory.
Sam Spade- a grey trench coat, and black hat, suit and shoes, this character is a following detective so it makes sense for the two detectives to have similar clothing.

Print Product planning

Planning for the print product
I want to create an image that would be able to be on the front cover of my movie poster, I would like to have the main protagonist in a photo shoot where a image is take of a close up of his face. He will be wearing the clothes we would wear in normal life and I will also take the exact same image when he is dressed in his detective uniform as I plan to merge the image and over lap them and use a filter to demonstrate the difference in the two realities, similar products with this design are X-Men Days of Future Past. I really like this idea as I think it will clearly show that there are two realities.
This example is the perfect example of the colour scheme I want to do as I feel its vital that the detectives in black and white.

Another idea I want to read into and try develop is this:
This is a great creative idea as it enables my film product to utilise a large range colours as well as having a mysterious poster which intrigues the user and consumer. This is a poster from the TV True detectives which slightly follows the same concept. However, I would experiment with it and change the white wash to a subtle red to fit the house style and colour scheme.
To go away from the normal example of a movie trailer print product, I have an idea about utilising the movies which are deemed the classics, this is just an idea as it would require a lot of skill but it fits the common convention of film noir movies.
Another movie which is of a similair genre and narrative, as well as the external environment. It also follows the colour scheme as its black and white, however, I want to make the background in colour but the detective in black and white.

Location risk assessments

Risk assessments
Sutton Park
Weather- If the weather isn't ideal for the filming and rains then we should consider the camera as the technology could become wet and not perform to it's maximum capacity. So to avoid this then we will put the camera in a cover which will keep it dry when we aren't using it. Furthermore, this would make the grass wet and muddy so to keep the camera in tact we will try not to cause damage through getting the camera muddy.
Lighting- If a night scene is going to be filmed then we will aim to use a back lighting in the scene through alternate light sources being shined at the scene. This would prevent any scenes which would have to be cut due to being not visible by the audience.
Props- due to being a psychological thriller a weapon is usually evident in the narratives so if we bring a weapon out into public then it's a health and safety risk that we use the prop safely and take the local community into consideration as we could cause a uneasy civilian to call police s they would be worried about someones safety. Furthermore, the avoid this we will only put the weapon on show when the weapon is needed and we will inform any of the public in the near by area that we are filming and it is a prop. Also we would get a written document from my school teacher which explains what we would be doing if we get questioned at any stage of the filming stage.

Cemetery
The surrounding area- As it is a public site we will take caution with the surrounding area as we should be respectful to the graves as they are symbolising life which once lived.

Boldmere
The public (Boldmere) - As the narrative is following a student through his day to day life, we would need to film some shots of him out in public so while filming we should inform anyone near by that we are filming so they don't walk into the middle of the scene if they don't want to be filmed, this is a hazard as it is a persons right not to be filmed.
Murder scenes
Due to being a psychological thriller revolving around death so we will have to stage a death as I feel it's necessary to have a large range of mine en scene so as a result we will have to have the find a remote spot and stage a murder there, most likely in the park where the end is vast so we have less chances of being seen. The murder scenes may consist of stab wounds as well as gun wounds and even hanging/ drowning which has a risk assessment to the cat themselves if the equipment and props are used in correctly.
Fight scene
As a part of a dream sequence we are going to have flashes to a fast paced fight sequence which can be used to build the tension and the rise of the trailer. However, the brawl can't occur in public as the public may feel unsafe and may witness and think the brawl is real and not staged. To give the effect that the fighting's realistic we may include close up shots of actual punches as it will make the scene appear less staged and fake.

Audience Feedback for the Narrative and the Production company logos

This feedback will allow me to alter my narrative and confirm which production company logo is more prefered out of the three proper ideas I came up with. This will also allow me to grasp the different elements my target audience prefer and would like to see in my other print media products. Due to the results of the logo ideas I will make sure to spend more time editing and creating a more professional logo revolving around the bottom right design of 'Eclipse Productions'

Audience Feedback

I created 18 different logos for my movie title, and I asked my brother who is the ideal target audience as he is in the age range, correct occupation in the JICNAR scale as well as being interested massively within the genre of psychological thriller which makes his feedback really helpful as it gives me an outsiders point of view which will allow me to alter and change certain ideas which will help create a final product.
However, while pitching the idea to many of my target audience, I received a coomon question which I will combat to make the audience understand, the frequent question I receive is in relation to the name, 'What does 'Incubus' mean?' It actually means nightmare which links in with my genre and my narrative. To combat this I will ensure the meaning is mentioned in the movie trailer or on the print media products which will be created to appeal to the audience and gain popularity through my media production.
