Movie Poster Inspiration

I am really inspired by these posters because I like the stylistic theme as it's an image within an image. To combat this, for my coursework I will use photoshop to position an image of the detective as the main silhouette as it's more distinguishable and more icon which is beneficial for the movie.
I also think by having my main protagonist in the centre of the page, informs that the character is of great importance. This would also allow me to place other images within the the darkened image of my protagonist. I also like the effect of the vantage point poster as I think it fits the narrative perfectly as it allows the audience to know that the movie is about the difference perspectives of the different characters. However, I personally prefer the Macbeth poster as it incorporates in different colours with a suitable amount of red to avoid overwhelming the poster. This causes it to look professional as it lightens the poster as the poster is very monotone without he red, the connotations suggest danger and blood.

Draft for movie magazine

This is a draft for my movie magazine, at this point in time the magazine front cover seems bare but I just wanted to test the images and try to play around with the background colour. I just positioned the various elements in the area where I would place them on the final product. I have also experimented with the banner at the top of the heading as I wanted to include this as its a new feature of the image of another movie which would persuade the audience to carry on reading.
I have also try to link in a third colour as I felt that the colour scheme was very monotone so with the anchorage text and cover lines, I have made the second word less bold and in a different colour. This allows the title of the movie to appear bolder which will attractive the target audience.
For my masthead, I received feedback to include a masthead font that links in with the genre, this benefitted me as I researched in to various psychological thriller magazines mastheads as I wanted to fit the common convention. This will influence my final product as I will test different mastheads in the mean time I will continue getting feedback for the movie magazine mastheads.

Movie Trailer Music consideration

http://www.youtube.com/FesliyanStudios

As stated in the description, If I intend to use their music for a non commercial sense all that is required is that I want the movie trailer to have a certain rise. This will also allow me to set my short cuts to a certain pace as they have to interlink with the beats of the music score.

Film Trailer inspiration

This trailer starts off slow as it introduces the characters, which is accompanied by a steady, mysterious soundtrack. Straight away the 1 second frames of bodies and silhouettes causes the audience's interests to be peaked as I feel it's necessary that the audience are constantly asking questions in their mind. However, this movie trailer fails in the sense that as a viewer, I feel like I've already seen the movie as the trailer gives loads of the narrative away which causes the viewing experience to be a tad repetitive. Despite giving away too much information, the ending sequence utilises the sudden fast pace accompanied with a faster soundtrack of a sound of a phone being disconnected, this links in with the narrative as it's about a stranger calling.

Film Trailer inspiration

This movie trailer highlights the same sections I would highlight in my movie trailer as my protagonist has become confused with identity and reality and I feel this movie trailer executes that well as the shots used vary in size but no shot is ever that long so it keeps the footage fresh which is also due to the variety of shot types used. The quick fades between shots causes the audience to be on the edge of their seat as they don't know what the twist is. This movie also utilsies the use of characters as it has made the audience weary that there is a connection but the audience don't know it.
This movie trailer also uses a good range of shots and scenery to intrigue the audience which will start to depict a narrative and the target audience.

Poster Draft

This is a poster draft, it's incomplete for the most part as it's missing many elements like the tagline, production companies etc but this is a general idea for a layout. I want to include images of both realities as I want them to be clear and deposed to the audience so as a result, I will try my best to make the two characters different and clearly distinguishable from the audience's perspective. To combat this feedback, I will ensure my detective character is wearing a significant object like a hat or badge of honour etc as well as a shirt and tie which is a similar thing to what a murder detective would wear in the 1940's. However, I want to create my own idea and develop the attire so instead of wearing suit trousers, i'll use black skinny jeans so it adds to the element of stretching the boundaries as I feel that it's necessary that the audience understand that the detective film noir setting is in the protagonist's mind so the scenery would be similar to modern day but with a twist.

Draft Ideas for Print product

I used Fireworks briefly to create a draft print product using the idea of a detective silhouette, the idea and inspiration for this idea was through the tv series of true detectives. I took this concept and added my own twist I used a stock image of New York and I also made the opacity less visible which makes the image look faded, this is a development on the original as that one didn't include a background within the exterior as it was just left plain white.
