Audience Research Profile.
Audience Research Profile
The genre of my movie trailer will be horror/ Thriller. Therefore the primary audience of the movie trailer will be teen ranging to adults, the ideal age range we will be aiming to cover with marketing will be 15+ due to its shocking nature and suspense throughout the viewing experience. Furthermore, the content in my movie can be deemed unfit for ages below 15. For example, there will be blood throughout the whole movie, implications of murder and kidnap. Furthermore, m audience will need to be older than 15 due to having disposable income to pend on trips to the cinema.
My product will be equally aimed at females and males as through similar films with the same genre, it is evident that both genders react well towards to the plot and execution. The psychographics of the target audience must greatly enjoy thrillers and loud noises, this is a must due to the scare fact and psychological twist with the plot and character development. A primary example of the se7en, this movie has content which is unfit for certain age ranges so it had a high age ragtag. Furthermore, this movie didn't have any particular plot which would cause the target audience to be specific gender in mind, movies that tend to have certain gender in mind in my chosen genre are the movies with heavy rape, sexism, abuse towards women.
The demographics of the target audience will consist of many feature lifestyle, in this circumstance, my target audience will enjoy music when not watching movies.Their music taste usually will be based around rock and heavy metal music. For hobbies, they enjoy walking in the park and dark areas, this will make the movie appeal to them due to the dark theme surrounding the movie and being partly filmed in a park. Clothing/Appearance, they'll usually shop at shops like Topman, Primark, Blue Banana, the Oasis market in Birmingham due to the certain types of clothing which provides the stereotypical clothing which my audience like. The stereotype of my target audience are 'emo' and ' adrenaline seekers' so they tend to be suggested to be wearing black clothing consisting of ripped jeans, band merchandise which involves t shirts and accessorises.
They enjoy exciting activities like attending concerts, skating, parachuting etc, while they enjoy to do into the thrilling activities, they still enjoy to relax and watch a psychological thriller which makes them internally thrilled due to being all about the mind.
In the JICNAR scale, my target audience would mostly fit between 15-25 therefore will fit into C2 as the target audience get older they'll be closer to C1 as around 25 people are typically lower middle class as they can range from skilled labour to white collar work. They could be in the process of a degree and nearly graduating in a education , law , health degree etc so after their degree they could be earning a high salary with a high socio-economic status. Its unlikely that the the target audience would fit under group A as they aren't typically old enough to be in education/ work long enough to become greatly accepted jobs like business executives , lawyers and doctors etc.
The secondary audience would be 25-50 due to the fact that people in that age range still love thrillers. Furthermore, they could go watch the movie as a result of the primary target audience being interested, this could be due to relatives e.g. parents and older cousins. The secondary audience may be in group A due to being able to have built up a career in a certain field. This is due to old people being able to have certain skills which require experience over a life time. Their salaries' would be good if they're in group A and their socio economic status is high.
The Primary audience and secondary audience will broaden my target audience due to covering a large range of age ranges and a large range of socio economics. Based on the JICNAR scale I would have covered most ages and both groups due to the different levels of experiences.

Narrative and Film industry
Narrative theory Revision.
Syn Field's Three-Act Structure.
Field identified that there were three acts to most stories; he broke up the structure as follows;
Act 1 (25%) The Set up
(Turning Point 1)
Act 2 (50%) Confrontation (Development)
(Turning Point 2)
Act 3 (25%) The Resolution
Todorov's Theory of Disequilibrium.
Todorov's ideas were similar; however, he defined these three acts asEquilibrium
Disequilibrium
Re-Equilibrium
Propp's Spheres of Action
Propp studied fairy tales and spotted these recurring in many of the stories. Movie Institutions often use a fairy tale structure for their films.
Propp's sphere of action:
Hero- The protagonist who is sent on a quest and saves the day
Villain- The antagonist whose mission is to disrupt the hero's quest
Princess-Must be saved by the hero or is the hero's reward
Helper-The hero's sidekick who helps him throughout the whole quest
Donor- gives the hero something crucial which without they couldn't complete the mission
Dispatcher- sends the hero on their quest.
Anti Hero- may appear to be on the villain's or hero's side.
Levi Strauss' Binary Opposites
Strauss expresses that narratives that are always centred on binary opposites, by which he means things are complete polar opposites. Some examples of binary opposites include;
Good vs Evil
Dark vs Light
Rich vs Poor
Small vs Big
Roland Barthes' Codes
Action codes- Things that happen that dictate an action that will occur; e.g. a character placing hands on guns indicates they're about to shoot.
Enigma codes- Things that are seen that raise questions for the audience, for example an important letter falling out of a charcters pocket: who will pick it up? What does the letter say? What will happen now?
Culteral codes- Objects or places that are seen that allow the audience to quickly idenify with specific culture. For exmaple; the inclusion of the Eiffel Tower alerts the audience that they are in France, or a yellow taxi dictates New York.
Trailer Guide.
Research from media magazine April 2014, this will help me compose a media trailer which has media elements.
